General Information

Christian Service
While a student is enrolled in GVBIS, Christian service is required. This will be accomplished by performing a weekly activity under his local pastor's supervision.

Lifelong Learning Units
Units can be earned for life and/or work experience. These units will apply toward the academic programs however, they are non-transferable. To receive guidelines and to apply for Lifelong Learning Units, please acquire an application from the administration office.

Transfer of Units
It is our policy to consider for transfer, units that were earned at some other college-level institution. Courses that are transferable must be similar in content as those offered at our school. Only those courses in which you received a grade of "C" or better will be transferable. Also, no more than 50% of your major course of study may be transferable.

Textbooks
All textbooks are supplied by the school and are included as part of your course fee. For a few select courses there is an additional book fee to help cover the cost of expensive books.

Standard of Conduct
GVBIS bases its standard of conduct on Biblical principles. All students must agree to abide by the standard as set forth by the school. All students must realize that attendance at GVBIS is a privilege and not a right. Therefore, any student whose conduct is considered a poor testimony for Christ will be counseled and disciplined. The school reserves the right to refuse admission or dismiss a student whose personal conduct or attitude, in the judgment of the administration, is not consistent with the Christian spirit and standards which the school seeks to maintain.

Testing Procedure
Students must take all tests in the presence of a proctor. All proctors must be pre-approved by the school's admission department by filling out the Proctor Request Form before registering for the first class. A proctor cannot be a relative or someone who lives in the household. Preferably, a proctor should be a pastor or someone in the teaching profession.

Graduation Requirements
Students must complete the following to be eligible for graduation:

  • Completion of at least 30 units at GVBIS
  • Completion of all course requirements in a diploma program
  • Satisfactory completion of the practical training requirements
  • All financial obligations satisfied
  • Minimum 2.0 grade point overall average (2.0 at GVBIS)

    Grading System
A report of grades will be issued to each student at the end of each calendar semester. The student will also receive his course grade upon the completion of each course. All classes are considered to be 3 units. The following grade point scale will apply:

    A - 4 Grade points
    B - 3 Grade points
    C - 2 Grade points
    D - 1 Grade point
    F - 0 Grade points
W - Withdrawn - not part of GPA
AU - Audit - not part of GPA
P - Pass - not part of GPA

    Student Load
Each student may register for as little as one or as many as six courses at a time. However, each course must be completed in a certain amount of time. For correspondence students, each course must be completed within 3 months of registration, regardless of the number of courses registered at that time. For students in an Extension Institute, each course must be completed according to the semester schedule.

Failure to complete a class within the specified amount of time results in a $50 re-enrollment fee. GVBIS understands that there are many good reasons not to do your school work (soul winning, serving in your church, etc..). However, if it is God's will for you to take a class, it is definitely God's will for you to complete it in a timely manner. This fee is an encouragement to that end.

    Academic Probation
Failure to sustain a 3.0 grade point average in any given semester will automatically require academic probation. The student's progress will be monitored for the next three courses he completes. If, after the next three courses are completed, the student's grade point average is till below the 3.0 cumulative average, the student will be asked to withdraw from the school.

    Academic Dismissal
Failure to sustain an overall 2.0 grade point average after completing one semester will result in the student's dismissal from the school.
